The Real Problem Behind Trump’s Tariff Taxes

Assuming we have a free and fair election in 2028.

Let's say I run a large manufacturing company with plants in both Canada and Mexico. Because of Trump's tariffs, I've decided to spend $100,000,000 building a new plant, that’s about to open in Michigan.

It's December 2028 and the incoming President wants to save his voters a lot of money and lower the cost of living, so the incoming President has decided to remove most of Trump’s tariffs.

My competition has decided not to build any new US plants. That means if I close my plants in Canada and Mexico and only use the new plant, my cost of product will be much higher than my competition. If I don't use the US plant, I've just blown a $100,000,000.

PS: I still think Trump is intentionally crashing the economy.
